Position: Engineer/Project Engineer

Location: Cortland, NY US

 

Position Description: ALI is currently seeking an engineer to join our team to support all aspects of automotive and vehicle lift safety here in North America. This will involve working side by side with our Senior Project Engineer, our management team, engineers from the major testing laboratories here in North America and manufacturing engineers supporting the design and testing of lift products made throughout the world.

 

This position will require strong organizational and analytical skills and the ability to work in a team environment. Tasks will include analyzing test data, stress calculations and design drawings, as well as becoming familiar with ANSI/ALI standards and their requirements. The successful candidate shall have excellent writing skills to support technical memos and white papers, and shall work in support of representing ALI at industry technical meetings. This position will involve working primarily at ALI’s office and Liftlab, but also requires occasional travel to witness product testing or to attend industry meetings allowing interaction with customers and users. Successful candidates potentially can transition into engineering leadership roles or management positions.

 

The Automotive Lift Institute (ALI) is recognized as the leading product certification and automotive lift safety advocate for the North American Industry. The organization’s Mission is to promote the safe design, construction, installation, inspection and use of automotive lifts.

Responsibilities

  • Support the engineering and technical needs of Senior Engineering, Executive Management, Marketing, Manufacturing Members, Lift Inspectors, Code Enforcement, and industry end users
  • Analyze test data and test reports to determine compliance
  • Support other technical tasks as may be required

Position Requirements

  • This is an entry level position that will consider those with experience in mechanical structures or automotive lifts.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in engineering (Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or Electrical Engineering with a concentration and strong understanding of mechanical systems).
  • Applicants should be self-motivated with strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Possess excellent verbal. computer, and written communications skills, and be comfortable interacting with customers
  • Approximately 5% percent travel, mostly domestic
