CORTLAND, NY – (June 15, 2026) The Automotive Lift Institute, Inc. (ALI), an ANAB-accredited product and services certification body (Accreditation ID #0584), is issuing a public notice that an individual operating in Puerto Rico is fraudulently claiming ALI certification as a lift inspector.

PuertoRicoInsp

The individual identified on the fraudulent inspection ID badge presented in the photo is not affiliated with the Automotive Lift Institute in any capacity. Additionally, the five-digit identification number displayed on the badge is invalid, as ALI-issued inspector identification numbers consist of four digits only. The badge itself is an unauthorized copycat bearing ALI’s inspector certification mark, misrepresenting a claim of official ALI credentials.

Automotive lifts inspected by this individual may not have been evaluated in accordance with the requirements of the current edition of ANSI/ALI ALOIM, the national safety standard governing automotive lift inspections. Owners and operators of lifts inspected by this individual are encouraged to arrange for a reinspection by a qualified ALI Certified Lift Inspector.

As of the date of this notice, ALI has received no reports of property damage, equipment failure, or personal injury related to this counterfeit inspection activity.

To locate an ALI Certified Lift Inspector, visit the ALI Directory of Certified Lift Inspection Providers at www.autolift.org.

ALI remains committed to promoting the safe design, construction, installation, inspection, and use of automotive lifts. The integrity of the ALI annual inspection label, the ALI Certified Lift Inspector credential, and ALI’s Lift Inspector Certification Program is essential to maintaining safety in vehicle service environments.
